Eagle II is a Piper Navajo operated by the Placer County Sheriff’s Air Support Unit. Based at Auburn Municipal Airport (KAUN) in Auburn, CA., its primary mission is the transportation of prisoners, department administration, and other county personnel within California and the western states.

This 1977 PA-31-310 includes the Colemill Panther conversion with upgraded 350 hp turbocharged engines, Hartzell 4-bladed Q-tip props, and winglets. Eagle II’s average cruise speed is 200 kts with a maximum operating altitude of 24,000 ft, and a range of up to 1000 nm.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office serves the people of Placer County by providing law enforcement to unincorporated areas from the Sacramento County line to the Nevada state line at Lake Tahoe. The Sheriff’s Office also provides jail services, coroner’s services, court security, and marshal duties to the entire county.
