The Houston Police Air Support Unit operates 10 helicopters and one fixed-wing and is based at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) in Houston, Texas. One of the oldest and largest units of its type in the country, the unit provides aerial support for ground operations including search and rescue, call‐for‐service response, perimeter control support, homeland security site checks, security for the ship channel and Port of Houston, live video‐downlink for major fire scenes, and SWAT officer insertion and extraction.
