Owned by Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and operated by Gama Aviation, the aircraft carries a crew of four, a pilot, co-pilot, critical care doctor and specialist practitioner delivering advanced prehospital critical care to seriously ill and injured patients across the two counties, 19 hours a day, 365 days a year. The AW169’s speed and increased range allow it to reach the furthest parts of the two counties within 25 minutes of launch. Its large cabin enables 360° access to a patient in flight. During the hours of darkness, the crew are equipped with night vision goggles and aided by the nose-mounted TrakkaBeam searchlight.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is a registered charity with annual operating costs of over £10 million. The care that we provide is only made possible because of public donations. Without this support, the life-saving service would not exist.
