This BO 105LS/C-30 is operated by CALSTAR and is based at Lake Tahoe Airport (TVL- elevation 6,269) in South Lake Tahoe, California. The crew consists of a pilot and two critical care RNs providing rapid onsite emergency care and medical transportation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

CALSTAR 6 was upgraded to operate in moutainous terrain and support flights as high as 20,000 feet ASL. It is capable of transporting up to 2 patients at a time and has a 10-county service area. It is equipped with NVGs to operate in conditions where there is little to no light.

CALSTAR’s objective is to provide rapid, onsite emergency care and medical transportation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The crew consists of a pilot and two critical care RNs. Pilots have a minimum of 3,000 hours of pilot-in-command flight time. Flight nurses have a minimum three years of of experience in intensive care, emergency room, and pre-hospital care.
