CALSTAR 2 is proud to have been a part of the Gilroy community since 1993. Based at Saint Louise Regional Hospital, CALSTAR 2 provides emergency medical services to six counties, including Santa Clara, Merced, San Benito, Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Luis Obispo. Transports originate from both the 911 emergency response system and requests for interfacility transports to specialty care centers.
CALSTAR’s objective is to provide rapid, onsite emergency care and medical transportation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The crew consists of a pilot and two critical care RNs. Pilots have a minimum of 3,000 hours of pilot-in-command flight time. Flight nurses have a minimum three years of of experience in intensive care, emergency room, and pre-hospital care.
